REWRITE BRIEF — Kaemisyol (working notes, not canon) WHAT THE BOOK IS The origin story of the man who becomes Kaemisyol, Vaazaa'Dovaajun. It ends where the canon histories begin: the founding of Revakgol. Everything the empire later mythologises — the Ghostback crest, the Darkflame, the paranoia, the doctrine that fire refines — should be visible here in its raw, unglamorous form. The reader should finish the last chapter understanding exactly which wounds became imperial policy. POV & TENSE Close third, past tense, anchored to Zelguu. Existing chapters are already scene-headed with POV attributions; keep the discipline but clean the headers (see DEFECTS). Occasional non-Zelguu scenes are permissible but should be rationed — one per act at most, and only where Zelguu's absence is the point. VOICE Cold, concrete, physical. Weather, stone, blood, cordage, the mechanics of trials. Metaphor drawn from fire, ash, storm, crucible — the clan's own idiom, not the narrator's decoration. Dialogue is clipped; Saarotsos characters do not explain themselves. Resist lyricism except in ritual scenes, where it should arrive like a change in air pressure. THEMES - Kori as truth rather than power: the flame shows what you are, it does not make you more. - Trust as a forged thing (Hilumesez, flame-harmony) and trust as the wound that never closes (Karthuun, Raanuk). - Grief converting into strategy. Each death cools him by one degree: the mentor, Voryk, Sylra, Kriistahv. - Adaptation versus law. Sylra's argument for the Ghostback is the seed of the whole empire. MOTIFS The self-inflicted pyre scar on the left forearm. The bone tokens of pairing. The obsidian coin Lirsa never lets go of. The cipher lists burned each morning at Kriistahv's aftermath. Cord, blindfold, horn signals — two blasts to signal, three to abort, and the three that meant betrayal. WHAT THE REWRITE SHOULD FIX 1. Chapter 17 is a six-word stub. The whole ending — the discarded name, the proclamation, the founding, Lirsa's Sigtaara warning — currently exists only in synopsis. It needs to be written. 2. Chapters 13–16 carry the entire unification arc across four chapters that are thinner than the material warrants; the middle (11–12) is nearly twice their weight. Rebalance. 3. The Torvaal problem (see WORLDBUILDING / continuity). He is dead in canon three years before Chapter 1 opens, yet he shadows the early chapters and is still a live comparison in Chapter 12. Decide: move his death later, or convert every present-tense Torvaal beat into inheritance and rumour. 4. Voryk's death is a Heluraeg battlefield death in the manuscript and a ritual duel at the Proving Grounds in canon. Pick one and commit; the ritual-duel version is thematically richer (his own law kills him) but costs the Chapter 3 battlefield awakening. 5. Raanuk is written as a pure obstacle. Canon makes him Lirsa's father by Sylra — meaning he becomes Zelguu's stepfather-in-fact after Voryk dies. That is free, load-bearing tension currently unused. 6. Karthuun Veyl gets one negotiation, one betrayal, one severed head. For a betrayal that reshapes the protagonist permanently, he needs earlier presence — canon calls him a childhood ally. DEFECTS IN THE CURRENT DRAFT (mechanical) - Ch5 scene 5 header contains a leftover authoring instruction: "Scene 5 - from - Need To Clarify What Flame-Harmony Feels Like From Zelguu'S Perspective's point of view". - Ch5 scene 4 has no header at all; the night-vigil section runs directly out of scene 3. - Chapters 11–15 headers read "Zelguu Kairtis'S's point of view" — possessive corruption, repeated. - Ch1 and Ch2 have no scene divisions where later chapters do. OPEN QUESTIONS FOR THE AUTHOR - Is "Zelguu" a use-name? Saarotsos canon says names are earned after Ko'Wokazil, not given at birth. Either the Sosvaelmirt are a documented exception or Zelguu is called something else until Chapter 3. - How many of the three children are on the page, and do any survive into the canon lineage? Only Zaehra is currently named. - Does the reader see Femaendinir's death, or does he outlive the book? Ghostbacks live 180 years; he could plausibly carry through the whole imperial period.

Dark Fantasy
Synopsis
In the harsh world of the Sosvaelmirt, a nine-year-old boy named Zelguu endures brutal training under his father, Voryk. Overshadowed by his elder brother Torvaal, Zelguu struggles to meet family expectations until a Heluraeg ambush kills his mentor. Denied participation in the vengeance raid, Zelguu secretly follows and witnesses a disastrous battle that ends in Voryk's death. In that moment, Zelguu's inner Kori ignites in a fiery awakening called Ko'Wokazil. Consumed by grief, he marks himself with a scar at the funeral pyre, signifying the beginning of his transformation. Under the conflicted guidance of Sylra, his mother and the clan’s spiritual leader, ten-year-old Zelguu learns about the six stages of flame mastery and the concept of Darkflame. A vision rite reveals his ancestral legacy and foretells his potential. At fourteen, during the Hilumesez initiation, Zelguu is paired with a companion named Vati Vhaltaak. Together they endure grueling trials, including a night vigil against a juvenile Hellkite which leads to Zelguu's first conscious control over his flame power. During a harsh winter, he defies clan orders and bonds with an injured Ghostback beast named Femaendinir. Upon returning a few days later, Zelguu faces near exile but eventually gains acceptance for both himself and Femaendinir with support from Sylra and young Lirsa. As years pass quietly, Zelguu trains under Sylra and becomes adept at Ko'Larkzil (Kindling). His bond with Vati strengthens as they fight side-by-side against increasing raids, achieving legendary flame-harmony. Amidst war, they conceive their first child while Lirsa begins offering cryptic prophecies about their future. When Sylra dies from an overwhelming vision at age sixty-one, when Zelguu is twenty-five, Zyra inherits her role informally. Grief tempers his Darkflame into something more strategic and cold as he leads daring strikes on enemy borders alongside Femaendinir. With two more children born during this time of escalating conflict, clan members start looking to him for leadership instead of Raanuk. Betrayed by Karthuun Veyl in his thirtieth year, Zelguu suffers a major defeat at Kriistahv and barely escapes alive. The betrayal fractures the clan and seeds paranoia within him as calls for new leadership grow louder. Raanuk attempts to exile him but fails when Lirsa’s visions and Vati’s loyalty sway opinion in Zelguu’s favor. He is named Dovjun-in-waiting at age thirty-four after proving himself through final campaigns that unite fractured clans using both force and mercy. Femaendinir becomes a symbol of this new era as whispers of children grow into declarations of allegiance. In the ash-choked aftermath of his final unification battle, Zelguu stands amid silenced foes, Femaendinir at his side and Vati holding their newborn. At 35 years old, he discards his birth name, adopting Kaemisyol—"Dark Flame"—and proclaims himself Vaazaa'Dovaajun—Supreme Dragonlord. The Saarotsos clans kneel as one, founding Revakgol on blood-soaked ground. In a private rite, Lirsa's young vision whispers of a devouring shadow ahead, her words in Sigtaara etching doubt into his triumph.
Worldbuilding
WORLDBUILDING — Kaemisyol Canon-sourced unless marked [MS] (manuscript-only invention). Canon ids given for lookup. === KORI, THE FLAME WITHIN === canon: magic.inhimog.kori | Sigtaara "In-Energy" Innate magic present in every living being of Fir'Gol — the manifestation of life, instinct and will. Born when the Pah'Nad split into Fir'Gol and Yoos'Okaaz. It is not taught but awakened, and it is bound by the body and spirit of its bearer: it can only enhance the self, never reshape the world. Mastery is harmony with one's own Olu (soul). Awakened by extreme emotion, near-death, long training, or spiritual awakening. Expressions: strength, agility, heightened senses, resilience, inner healing. THE SIX STAGES (The Path of the Inner Flame) 1. Ko'Surhul — Slumber. "The ember unseen." Near-universal. Unconscious, fleeting bursts. 2. Ko'Gornazil — Stirring. "The first breath in the ashes." First deliberate invocation; crude, exhausting, two or three uses a day before collapse. 3. Ko'Wokazil — Ignition. "The first spark." The flame begins to take the shape of the soul. Unstable shapeshifting possible. Rare. 4. Ko'Larkzil — Kindling. "The steady flame that feeds itself." Sustained without strain; signature techniques emerge. Rare. 5. Ko'Yolhak — Flameweaving. "The weaving of the living fire." The flame reaches the Kori of others. Permits Fin'Okaaz'Du (unravelling Tazri) and Yolkirei (terminal self-immolation for others' salvation). Mythic among the living. 6. Ko'Vooklazil — Expansion of the Inner. "The Flame becomes the Horizon." Fewer than a dozen known cases in recorded history. Self and world cease to be separate; the land itself remembers the bearer. ZELGUU'S LADDER (for pacing the rewrite) Ch3, age 9 — Ko'Wokazil, ignited by his father's death. Ch5, age 14 — first conscious control, during the Hellkite vigil. Ch8–9 — Ko'Larkzil under Sylra. Adulthood — canon has him reach Ko'Yolhak; his aura alone was said to stir the Kori of legions. Ko'Vooklazil is rumoured, never confirmed. Elders speak of a storm that parted for him and enemies who wept and dropped their weapons. Keep it unverifiable on the page. [MS] MANUSCRIPT COINAGES — not defined in canon, keep internally consistent: • Darkflame / the Patient Flame — Zelguu's white-black fire. It does not roar; it waits. Reads as assessment and calculation rather than fury. • Stillflame — Vati's blue-green Kori. Preserves rather than consumes; the elders' word for Kori that manifests as vessel, not weapon. Stillflame keepers hold clan memory across generations. • Flame-harmony — two Kori that enhance rather than merely complement each other, flowing as one. Cannot be taught, forced or faked; perhaps once in three generations. Grants shared perception and doubled strength, and leaves both parties drained afterward. Sealed in the old rite: each partner's flame poured into the other's cut palm, leaving matching pearl-luminous scars. === THE SAAROTSOS (DRAGONKIN) === canon: species.firgol.sentient.dovagoraan.saarotsos | Sigtaara SÂROTSOS Descended from dragons; arose in the second age in eastern Silgolt. Family Kaesendova, genus Dovahsos, species Vahzahdov. Magical affinity: Kori exclusively. BODY — 1.9–2.3m typical, robust and muscular; bronze, emerald or obsidian scales; tails 2.6–3m; spiral horns; burning slit-pupilled eyes; deep resonant voices; infrared vision; dense interlocking bone plates; bifurcated respiration granting heat and toxin resistance; smooth thick chest skin. Lifespan approx. 140 years, longer in rare cases of disciplined Kori. Oviparous, low fertility, clutches of 1–2 eggs. Males larger with heavier horns; females more compact with sharper claws and sensory ridges. (Note: the Kairtis run large — Kaemisyol 2.6m, Torvaal 2.5m, Voryk 2.4m. Treat as exceptional stock, and let other clans remark on it.) CULTURE — core values: mastery of the inner flame, strength through trial, remembrance of bloodline, honour through achievement rather than birth. Stratified but meritocratic: only those who have awakened Kori count as full citizens. Silent discipline; a name earned through fire. CASTES — Dovjun (rulers / Dragonlords), Tufae (warrior-champions and flamepriests), Yol'Tikjootuz (the fire-sworn populace), Wek'Kirii (the "blind" pre-Kori young). Lokraasos, the rare winged, stand outside the ranks entirely. INSTITUTIONS — Dovahrein, the high council of Dovjun from each citadel, whose collective voice sets law, war and ritual. Kavahl, the communal flame-warmed hatcheries where eggs are incubated under flamekeepers (Sylra's office). TRADITIONS — Kori Trials marking each stage of personhood; flame-marks, living sigils of lineage that appear on the inner arm at awakening; clan trials of blood, including trial by flame or duel for succession; naming, which is awarded only after Ko'Wokazil and never given at birth. TABOOS — bearing an unearned name; failing to awaken Kori; disrespecting one's own flame or another's; killing a Lokraasos; dilution of bloodline; betrayal of kin; uttering private names to outsiders; refusing funerary rites. BEAUTY — burning eyes, vivid scale pattern, prominent horns, and a bearing that reveals disciplined will. Stature, endurance, and clarity of one's "burn". BONDS — formed by shared trial, proven loyalty, and compatibility of flame. Romantic unions are sacred but always subordinate to clan and empire. (Zelguu and Vati are the clean case: trial first, flame second, love last.) OUTSIDERS — cautious and proud, but not isolationist. Strangers are judged by strength and flame, not birth. RELIGION — the Firhohii / Fírâî, the Dragon Gods. Râsil'lâ, Râboksul, Râshân, Râvulhânu, Rârovâlok. Per character: Voryk — Rahsil'lah, then Rahboksul. Sylra — Rahboksul, then Rahshaan. Torvaal — Rahsil'lah, then Rahvulhahnu. Zyra — Rahboksul, then Rahshaan. Lirsa — Rahvulhahnu, then Rahshaan. Kaemisyol — Firhohii broadly, and he uses the Dragon Gods to justify unification. LANGUAGE — Sigtaara is the common tongue; Aedtaara is the second; Old Draconic survives in ritual (Sylra and Lirsa both hold it). Prophecy comes out in Sigtaara, and should read as jagged and heavy on the page. === PLACES === Eastern Silgolt — volcanic and mountainous, citadels of obsidian and bronze. The Saarotsos homeland. Ashen Crags — birthplace of Voryk and Torvaal. Sosvaelmirt Flame-Cavern — birthplace of Sylra, Zyra and Lirsa; seat of the clan's flamekeeping. Sosvaelmirt settlement — stone and iron, slitted archery windows, murder holes above the main gate, blue-white flame orbs on the perimeter, blue firepits, a central flame pit of blue fire, breeding dens, cold cellars, an old armoury used as a trainee barracks. [MS] Sosvaelmirt Proving Grounds — where Voryk dies in canon (ritual duel, 1239 AZN). Howling Crags — ice-blasted labyrinth of razor fissures above the settlement; the Hilumesez trial ground. The wind there mimics the voices of the dead. [MS] Vyrkesh Pass — where Torvaal is ambushed and killed by Heluraeg raiders. Kriistahv — flat, endless, wind-shaved grasslands, brittle with frost; no shelter anywhere. Site of the betrayal and of Kaemisyol's one famous defeat. Vusokaar — founded 1269 AZN at Kaemisyol's command; the blazing heart of Revakgol. Beyond this book's ending. canon: settlements.vusokaar === PEOPLES & FACTIONS === Sosvaelmirt Clan — the protagonists' clan. Acting leadership under Raanuk after Voryk's death. Heluraeg — rival Saarotsos clan; killed Torvaal at Vyrkesh Pass. Broken by the story's midpoint; Sylra uses them as her argument — they fell because they clung to law above adaptation. Veyl — Karthuun's clan. Copper-tinged scales, copper helms, archer-heavy, thinning bloodline. [MS] Zegtuzsos (Lizardborn) — Dovagoraan rivals of the Saarotsos; three-toed tracks, blue scales, speak a dialect of the trade tongue. Their resistance in the central riverlands becomes the Great Wyrm War, after this book ends. canon: species.firgol.sentient.dovagoraan.zegtuzsos Empire of Revakgol — founded in the final chapter. canon: countries_and_continents.continents.silgolt.nations.revakgol.empire_of_revakgol === BEASTS === SILGOLTIAN GHOSTBACK — canon: species.firgol.monsters.wyrms.silgoltian_ghostback Scientific name Nehylkaadov Revakdova Hikezdinok. Winged wyrm of the high steppes. Quadrupedal, membranous wings, hollow bones, talons. Pale blue iridescent scales with navy spined ridges; streamlined head, glowing eyes, elevated nostrils for aerial scenting. 12m long, 2.5m at the shoulder, 500–700kg. Ice breath used to immobilise prey. Nocturnal, territorial, apex predator. Intelligence comparable to a human child: problem-solving, memory-based hunting patterns, vocal and physical communication. Thermosensory organ in the snout. Lifespan 180 years. Spectral under moonlight. Domestication by the Saarotsos is rare and difficult, and normally begins with hatchlings — bonding is essential for control. Canon credits Kaemisyol as the first to tame and ride one; it became his sigil, his steed, and the crest of Revakgol, the Ghostback in flight. Femaendinir is that beast, and Zelguu bonds him as a wounded adult, not a hatchling — which is precisely why the clan calls it abomination. [MS] HORNED HELLKITE — midnight-blue scales, amber lantern eyes, forward-curving horns that are soft at the base until the animal matures, razor spines along the back, barbed tail. Hunted by experienced warriors only in groups of five or more. A juvenile is the Chapter 5 vigil threat. === CHRONOLOGY (AZN) === 1190 — Voryk born, 12 Zuzil, Ashen Crags 1195 — Sylra born, 29 Firzil, Flame-Cavern 1210 — Torvaal born, 44 Etzil, Ashen Crags 1215 — Zyra born, 22 Daazil, Flame-Cavern 1230 — ZELGUU born, 23 Daazil, eastern Silgolt 1236 — Torvaal killed at Vyrkesh Pass, 13 Vurzil, age 26 [Zelguu is 6] 1239 — Voryk dies, 7 Daazil, age 49 [Zelguu is 9] — Ch1–3 1240 — Sylra's teaching, the vision rite — Ch4 1243 — Lirsa born, 9 Etzil, to Sylra and Raanuk 1244 — Hilumesez, Zelguu 14, paired with Vati — Ch5–7 1256 — Sylra dies of an overwhelming Rahboksul vision, 19 Etzil, age 61 [Zelguu is 26] — Ch10 1260 — Kriistahv, Zelguu 30 — Ch12 1264 — named Dovjun-in-waiting, Zelguu 34 — Ch14 1265–66 — the final unification; Kaemisyol proclaimed Vaazaa'Dovaajun; Revakgol founded — Ch17 [after the book] 1269 — Vusokaar founded; the Great Wyrm War against the Zegtuzsos 1270 — Zyra dies at Vusokaar of lingering wounds, age 55 1426 — Kaemisyol dies at the Imperial City, 17 Vurzil, age 196, of old age, haunted by nightmares and paranoia === CONTINUITY FLAGS (manuscript vs canon — resolve before rewriting) === 1. TORVAAL. Canon kills him in 1236, three years before Chapter 1. The manuscript has him overshadowing a nine-year-old Zelguu in 1239 and still a living memory sharp enough to compare Karthuun to in 1260. Either shift his death to 1239–40 or rewrite every early Torvaal beat as legacy. 2. VORYK'S DEATH. Canon: ritual duel at the Proving Grounds. Manuscript: killed in the Heluraeg vengeance raid. Incompatible as written. 3. SYLRA'S DEATH. The synopsis says Zelguu is twenty-five; the dates make him twenty-six. Trivial fix. 4. KRIISTAHV. Canon places the defeat during the Great Wyrm War, i.e. after the empire exists. The manuscript places it at age 30, six years before the founding. The manuscript version is better structurally — but it means canon's Great Wyrm War account needs a second Kriistahv, or a correction filed as a lore proposal. 5. KARTHUUN. Canon calls him a childhood ally who defected during the First Silgolt Push. The manuscript introduces him cold at Kriistahv as a stranger from another clan. 6. ORPHANHOOD. Canon describes Kaemisyol as orphaned by tribal conflict and shaped by survivor's guilt from childhood. The manuscript keeps Sylra alive until he is 26. "Orphaned" may be later imperial myth-making — which would be a good deliberate choice, if made deliberately. 7. NAMING. Canon says Saarotsos names are earned after Ko'Wokazil. Zelguu carries a name from birth. 8. HEIGHT. Species canon caps typical Saarotsos at 2.3m; three Kairtis exceed it. NOTE ON AUTHORITY: none of the above is canon until a human files and accepts a lore proposal. Where the rewrite departs from canon deliberately, log it here rather than silently overwriting the canon record.
Outlines
OUTLINE — Kaemisyol (17 chapters, 81,493 words in the current draft) Beats for Ch1–12 are drawn from the drafted text and the synopsis. Beats for Ch13–16 are reconstructed from chapter titles plus the synopsis and should be treated as provisional. Ch17 is an unwritten stub. --- ACT I: THE CRUCIBLE (Ch1–4 | age 9–10 | 1239–40 AZN) --- 1. THE SOSVAELMIRT CRUCIBLE — 2,025 w Zelguu at nine, under his father Voryk's brutal training. The clan, the cold, the law. Torvaal's shadow over every measurement of him. Establishes what the boy is judged against and found short of. 2. BLOOD AND ASH — 6,511 w A Heluraeg ambush kills Zelguu's mentor. The clan calls a vengeance raid. Zelguu is refused a place in it — the refusal, not the death, is what breaks him. 3. THE AWAKENING — 3,424 w Scenes: The Shadowed Trail → The Dawn Ambush → The Father's Sacrifice → The Bitter Return → The Funeral Flame. Zelguu follows the raid in secret. The battle goes wrong. Voryk dies. In that moment Zelguu's Kori ignites — Ko'Wokazil, white and black. At the pyre he burns the flame-sigil into his own left forearm. The scar becomes the book's central object. 4. THE FLAMEKEEPER'S WISDOM — 3,030 w Sylra takes over his instruction, conflicted between mother and flamekeeper. The six stages laid out. The word Darkflame spoken for the first time. A vision rite opens his ancestral legacy and hints at what he will become. --- ACT II: THE FORGING OF BONDS (Ch5–9 | age 14–25) --- 5. THE BONDING TRIALS — 7,067 w Hilumesez. Twelve candidates, bone tokens, no clutch pairs with its own. Zelguu drawn with Vati Vhaltaak. Gate one — the blindfolded climb through the Howling Crags; he moves entirely on her voice. Gate two — the wind-bowl, wrists corded together, five cycles against armed elders. Zyra tests them, then eases off in approval. Raanuk splits their guard and Vati takes the blow on her ribs. Eight of twelve remain. Gate three — the night vigil. Guard the flame until dawn. They trade histories; she names her Kori Stillflame, he names his the Patient Flame. A juvenile Horned Hellkite attacks. Mid-fight their Kori touch and merge — flame-harmony, and his first conscious control. The binding rite: blood, then flame poured into each other's wounds, leaving matching pearl scars. Zyra needles him about the years he has been looking at Vati. 6. THE GHOST IN THE STORM — 6,971 w Hard winter. Zelguu defies clan orders, goes out, and finds a Ghostback with a broken wing. He heals it rather than killing it. He names it Femaendinir and does not come back for days. 7. RETURN OF THE OUTCAST — 4,544 w He walks the causeway with the wyrm beside him, not behind. Raanuk halts him at the gate under thirty-three drawn bows; Vati is among the archers, hand hovering off the string. In council Raanuk demands proof and Zelguu makes the beast kneel. Sylra makes the argument that becomes the whole empire: the Heluraeg died because they clung to law above adaptation. A trial by tracking — Femaendinir finds every hidden scout, Vati last, submerged in a cistern. Exile is denied; instead Zelguu is sentenced to live outside the walls on perimeter duty, exile repainted as duty. On the ridge that night he spares a Zegtuzsos scout, and feels the link widen until he can sense the whole valley through the beast. 8. THE PATIENT FLAME — 3,813 w Quiet years. Training under Sylra. He reaches Ko'Larkzil — the steady flame that feeds itself. The Darkflame stops surging and starts holding. 9. WHISPERS OF UNION — 4,518 w Raids intensify; he and Vati fight as one, and the clan starts calling their flame-harmony legendary. Their first child is conceived in the middle of a war. Lirsa, still a child, begins speaking in prophecy. --- ACT III: THE COLD FIRE (Ch10–13 | age 26–32 | 1256–62 AZN) --- 10. THE DEATH OF THE KEEPER — 3,676 w Sylra is overwhelmed by a Rahboksul vision and dies of it, aged 61. Zyra inherits her office in practice if not in name. Grief does not soften Zelguu; it cools him. From here the Darkflame is strategic rather than grieving. 11. THE GATHERING STORM — 9,584 w (longest chapter) Border strikes with Femaendinir. Two more children. The clan begins to look past Raanuk toward Zelguu, and Raanuk feels it. 12. THE BETRAYAL AT KRIISTAHV — 6,990 w The pact on the frost-shaved plain: Karthuun Veyl, copper-scaled, rune-ringed horns, offering a joint strike on the Heluraeg outpost for breeding rights over three cycles. Zelguu takes the deal knowing Veyl will turn, and plans to be faster. Lirsa falls into trance at the fire: "Beware the false wind that extinguishes true flame." Dawn. Two horn blasts to signal, three to abort. Mid-battle the Veyl horns sound three, and the copper archers fire into Kairtis flanks while hidden Heluraeg reserves rise from the grass. Zelguu forms the circle, then breaks out on the Ghostback with two survivors. In the gully he bleeds his own Kori into Femaendinir's arrow wounds and nearly kills himself doing it. He returns to a corridor of witnesses and no welcome. Raanuk charges him publicly and confines him to the healer's den. Fever; the boundary between him and the beast dissolves. Vati comes only at night: "If you die, I will kill Veyl myself. But I want you to live for the pleasure of watching it." Months of cipher lists, written and burned each morning. Then the council: Raanuk moves for exile and Zelguu accepts every charge as true. Lirsa rises, a ring of fire opens above her head, and she speaks in Sigtaara — "The flame that falters will burn brightest at its rekindling. The death of the brother will form the five headed dragon." Vati calls the vote. Exile is denied by a narrow margin; he is confined and stripped of command instead. The chapter closes before sunrise in a frost-blasted clearing, alone with Karthuun Veyl's severed head on a flat stone, closing the dead eyes with two fingers. 13. THE LAST DANCE — 6,504 w [beats provisional] The reckoning with Raanuk and the fractured clan. The last contest for the Sosvaelmirt before Zelguu stops asking permission. --- ACT IV: THE CROWN OF ASH (Ch14–17 | age 34–35 | 1264–66 AZN) --- 14. THE FIRST KNEEL — 3,191 w [beats provisional] Named Dovjun-in-waiting at thirty-four. The first rival clan kneels rather than burns — the first time mercy is used as an instrument. 15. ASH AND SALT — 4,947 w [beats provisional] The unification campaigns proper. Force where force is cheaper, mercy where mercy is cheaper. Femaendinir becomes the recognised sign of what is coming. 16. THE BROKEN HORN — 4,692 w [beats provisional] The last resistance broken. Title implies a defeated Dovjun's horn taken or shattered — a specific, nameable enemy would strengthen the whole act. 17. THE LAST CLAN — 6 w [UNWRITTEN STUB] The ending exists only in the synopsis. Required beats: • The ash-choked aftermath of the final unification battle. Zelguu standing amid silenced foes, Femaendinir at his side, Vati holding their newborn. • He discards the birth name. Takes Kaemisyol — Dark Flame. Proclaims himself Vaazaa'Dovaajun, Supreme Dragonlord. • The Saarotsos clans kneel as one. Revakgol founded on blood-soaked ground. • A private rite afterwards: Lirsa's vision of a devouring shadow ahead, spoken in Sigtaara. The book ends on doubt inside triumph, not on triumph. --- STRUCTURAL NOTES --- • Word-count distribution is lopsided. Act III carries 26,754 words across four chapters; Act IV carries 12,836 across four, one of which is empty. The climax is currently the thinnest part of the book. • Ch2 (6,511 w) is three times Ch1 (2,025 w) and the two cover a single continuous movement. Consider merging, or moving the mentor's death earlier so Ch1 has its own turn. • Three chapters end on Zelguu alone with the Ghostback in the dark (7, 12, and by implication 16). Vary at least one. • The prophecy line "the death of the brother will form the five headed dragon" is planted in Ch12 and never paid off in the drafted text. Either it resolves in Ch13–17 or it is deliberate long-range setup for a sequel — decide, and note the decision in braindump.
