The native sentients of Fir'Gol — not descendants of the Hah'Slen, not sealed fragments of the Rúth'Sunvaar, but life that grew from the land itself after the First Wounds closed. Where Dovagoraan and Hah-Kula'as carry …

Overview

In their own tongues they are human — one people, many places. Julhel is the Sigtaara scholarly name for that whole stock: a genus-label in the learned register of Nixxia, used in archives, bestiaries, and intercontinental catalogs the way Latin binomials are used in ours. Branch names (Medesjul, Kaetijul, Jaajul, Aedhelirjul) refine the same habit. Vernacular speech rarely replaces 'human' with these terms at home.

Endonym And Exonym

Endonym

Human, humanity (and local vernacular equivalents). Distinctions are by coast, wood, plain, holdfast, clan, and craft — not by formal species tables.

Exonym Sigtaara
Julhel
Scholarly genus for all land-born Hjemland humanity and its later mixtures.
Medesjul
Scholarly label for the surface-adapted branch (coasts, forests, plains).
Kaetijul
Scholarly label for the deep-adapted branch (hills, under-stone, later Namuzdus).
Jaajul

Scholarly label for recognized mixed surface–deep stock (often smaller stature); biology can predate the name.

Aedhelirjul

Scholarly label for Julhel lines shaped by contact with Lahkiin/Hah-Kula'as blood after continental contact.

Note

Sigtaara is the scholarly language of Nixxia. Imperial archives, academies, and trade catalogs use the Julhel set as taxonomy. Hjemland vernacular answers with 'human' whether the speaker comes from a harbor-fire or a deep hall.

Cosmic Contrast

Pahnad Frame

When the Pah'Nad split and the War of One and All destroyed the Rúth'Sunvaar and Hah'Slen, two scar-lineages remained: Dovagoraan (Id-line of sealed voracity) and Hah-Kula'as (Superego-line of fragmented stewardship — elves and greenkin kin). Humans are not a third war-shard. They are what Fir'Gol develops as a self once the wound-era ends.

Julhel Place

Ego of the living world, through Ykheri's allowance. Biological, almost-mythic, cumulative. No founding god required for the true origin; folk religions may invent their own stories without matching the triad.

Knowledge

Humans do not know this frame. Id/Superego/Ego language is scholarly or foreign. Their own myths are local and wrong in useful ways.

Origin

True Event
The Long Season (MV 1600–2200)
True Nature

After the Closing of the First Wounds, a multi-generation alignment of stability on Hjemland lets duration become identity. Sentience ripens; no single founding hour.

Divergence Event
The Forking of Root and Stone (MV 2800–3600)
Divergence Nature
Ecological: surface → Medesjul (exonym); deep → Kaetijul (exonym). Still one humanity.
Folk Myths
Surface
Many First Fires — competing claims to the oldest continuous hearth.
Deep

The Unfinished Work (genesis-hook: a people left incomplete in the mountain, finishing itself) and the First Cut (identity: deliberate cut into living rock).

Branches

Medesjul
Surface-adapted humans (Sigtaara scholarly name). Coasts, forests, plains; generalist adaptability.
Kaetijul

Deep-adapted humans (Sigtaara scholarly name). Stone, veins, holdfasts; geological patience; later Namuzdus.

Jaajul

Mixed human stock (Sigtaara scholarly name), often from surface–deep contact; recognized as a taxonomic class mainly once scholars needed a third drawer.

Aedhelirjul

Human lines shaped by post-contact mixture with non-human scar-lineages (especially elf-kin); arises after Hjemland meets other continents (from late Second Age Silent Integration onward, denser later).
