English
Magic in Fir'Gol is not a single force but a constellation of distinct currents, each with its own origin, nature, and relationship to the beings that encounter it.
Definition
- Origin
When the primordial whole — Pah'Nad — split into Fir'Gol (the mortal world) and Yoos'Okaaz (the Arcane Sea), magic was the scar left behind. The living world retained a spark of that original unity in the form of Kori, seeded into all life. The Arcane Sea itself became a boundless reservoir called Tazri, volatile and external. The beliefs and stories of mortals coalesced over time into Yoori, a living weight of myth and memory. And the land, sea, and sky of Fir'Gol held their own slow, ancient power — Ykheri, indifferent and monumental.

- Inner Magic
- Description
Magic that arises from within living beings. It is personal, intimate, and tied to the self. Inhimog encompasses Kori (the inner flame born in all life) and Tazri (arcane energy drawn inward from the Arcane Sea). Both require the practitioner to be the site of magic — their body, their soul, their will.

- Outer Magic
- Description
Magic that exists independently of any individual will. It cannot be wielded or cast — only perceived, influenced, or embodied. Kaanurlmog encompasses Yoori (the magic of collective belief) and Ykheri (the passive power of the natural world). Both exist whether or not any mortal attends to them.

The Olu (soul) of living beings. A primal remnant of Pah'Nad seeded into all life at the moment of the world's splitting.
- Nature
Not taught, but awakened. Kori responds to instinct, emotion, and need. It enhances the bearer's body and spirit — feats of strength, speed, resilience, healing — rather than reshaping the external world. Mastery is a journey inward: harmony with one's own Olu.

- Summary
Full mastery. The Flame extends beyond the self to connect with the Kori of others — sensing nearby life, binding allies, transferring strength or pain. Advanced abilities: Fin'Okaaz'Du (consuming foreign Tazri with life-fire), Firelink (interweaving presence with others), Yolkirei (irreversible self-sacrifice for total salvation).

- Summary
Transcendence. Kori expands beyond body and mind into the world itself. The bearer's presence subtly reshapes reality. Advanced abilities: Soulbrand (marking souls with fragments of own essence, echoing through generations), awakening or suppressing Kori in others.
- Limitations
Cannot reshape the external world — only enhance the self. Bound by the body and spirit of the bearer. Overextension causes exhaustion, and the highest techniques (Yolkirei) are irreversible.

The Arcane Sea (Yoos'Okaaz) — the volatile external reservoir left when Pah'Nad divided. Tazri is drawn inward through the caster's Saeje (soul) and shaped by will, ritual, and the Sigtaara language.
- Nature
External power drawn into the self. Unlike Kori, Tazri can reshape the world — altering matter, conjuring forces, reshaping reality. But it is also corrosive: repeated exposure erodes the Saeje, and losing control invites catastrophe. Mastery requires not dominating the Sea but learning to listen to it.

- Rarity
- Mythical
- Summary
Irreversible descent into the Arcane Sea. The ego dissolves completely. The caster becomes an Echo Form — a flickering presence that alters reality by proximity alone. Spells occur without intent or structure. The individual ceases to exist conventionally.
- Dangers
- Zaelmonir
Soul-drowning. The Arcane Sea's tides erode the Saeje with repeated contact. Untrained practitioners risk losing themselves entirely.
- Mana Flooding
- Overdraw causes catastrophic soul rupture.
- Aberrations
- Miscasts warp land or spawn arcane creatures.
- Arcane Trace
Residue marks the Saeje after repeated use, attracting supernatural threats and making the caster visible to entities within the Sea.
- Limitations
Requires ritual and focus. Cannot be used safely without training. External source means it is never fully under the caster's control — it is borrowed, not owned.

Passive and ancient. Ykheri does not respond to will, has no incantation, and cannot be cast. It is perceived, endured, and rarely — in a gesture close to allowance — cooperated with. Mountains, rivers, oceans, stormfronts, seasons, erosion, tectonic activity: these are Ykheri's domain.

- Effects For Perceptive
- Prediction of weather, earthquakes, and floods
- Sensing terrain shifts and natural imbalances
- Harmonizing with travel, hiding, and hunting conditions
- Recognizing magical interference in natural cycles
- Response To Abuse
Repeated magical interference in Ykheri's domain — whether through Kori manifestations or Tazri rituals — causes cumulative imbalance: magical flooding, rockslides, droughts, and gradual environmental resistance.
- Limitations
- Cannot be wielded. Responding to Ykheri is a matter of perception and harmony, not command.
- Interactions
- Types
- kori
- tazri
- Description
Kori and Tazri are fundamentally opposed in origin — one internal, one external. At the highest stages of Kori mastery (Ko'Yolhak), a practitioner may develop Fin'Okaaz'Du: the ability to reject and consume foreign Tazri by burning it with life-fire. Overuse of this ability permanently damages the soul.
- Types
- kori
- yoori
- Description
Yoori magnifies how Kori expresses in individuals of mythic significance. A warrior whom legend declares unkillable may find their Kori surging in ways that defy expectation. The collective story reshapes the flame.
- Types
- tazri
- yoori
- Description
High ritual magic may draw Yoori influence into arcane channels. Prophecies and rites of great cultural weight can invite the weight of collective belief into a Tazri working, amplifying or distorting its effects.
- Types
- kori
- ykheri
- Description
Powerful Kori manifestations can momentarily alter local Ykheri — a brief disruption of the land's natural rhythm. The effect is temporary, but repeated occurrences accumulate.
- Types
- tazri
- ykheri
- Description
High ritual magic causes transient effects in Ykheri. Repeated magical abuse of a location risks permanent imbalance: ecological disruption, the land's growing resistance to habitation or cultivation.
- Key Concepts
- Pah Nad
The primordial whole — the undivided source from which both Fir'Gol and Yoos'Okaaz emerged. Its splitting is the origin of all magic.
- Fir Gol
- The mortal world. The realm of living beings, natural cycles, and physical reality.
- Yoos Okaaz
The Arcane Sea. The external reservoir of magical energy from which Tazri is drawn. Vast, volatile, and indifferent.
- Olu
- The soul or inner being, in the context of Kori. The deep self that Kori expresses and serves.
- Saeje
The soul or spirit, in the context of Tazri. The spiritual conduit through which Arcane Sea energy is channeled. Adapts with use, but carries permanent scars.
- Sigtaara
The language of Tazri. Used in spellcasting, ritual, and arcane invocation. Speaking it aligns the caster's intent with the structure of the Sea.
- Spellform
A Tazri practitioner's personal inner rhythm — developed at Taz'Yokaazil — that anchors their relationship with the Arcane Sea and allows spells to flow without rigid external structure.
- Zaelmonir
Soul-drowning. The erosion of the Saeje through uncontrolled or excessive contact with the Arcane Sea. The primary existential danger of Tazri practice.
- Fin Okaaz Du
The unraveling of foreign Tazri by a high-stage Kori master. The life-fire consumes arcane energy directly. Usable only sparingly — overuse causes permanent soul damage.
- Yolkirei
The final gift of Ko'Yolhak. A Kori master's total self-annihilation in an act of complete salvation for others. Irreversible.
- Firelink
Advanced Ko'Yolhak ability. The interweaving of one's Kori presence with others — transferring strength, healing, pain, or death.
- Soulbrand
Advanced Ko'Vooklazil ability. Marking another soul with a fragment of one's own essence, creating an echo that persists across generations.
