Kaanurlmog — Outer Magic — encompasses the two forms of magic that exist independently of any individual will: Yoori, the ambient power of collective mortal belief, and Ykheri, the passive ancient force of the natural w…

English

Outer Magic is the domain of the world — forces larger than any individual that shape reality without being shaped in return.

Definition

Summary

Kaanurlmog describes all magic that exists outside of and independent from living beings. Unlike Inhimog (Kori and Tazri), which requires a practitioner to wield it, Outer Magic moves according to its own nature. It accumulates, shifts, and manifests without invitation. Mortals may perceive it, align with it, be shaped by it, or fall into its orbit — but they cannot command it.

Distinction From Inhimog

Where Inhimog magic is personal and active — born from or channeled through the self — Kaanurlmog magic is impersonal and ambient. There are no stages of mastery for Yoori or Ykheri because there is no practitioner. A person may become an echo of Yoori or learn to read Ykheri's rhythms, but they do not wield these forces. They are, at most, instruments of something much older and larger than themselves.

Types
Yoori
Name
Yoori
Translation
Group-Energy
Source

The collective belief of mortals — born of repetition, reverence, symbols, lineages, sacrifice, and story told across generations. Yoori coalesces wherever belief is thick enough to take on a life of its own.

Nature

Ambient and emergent. Yoori cannot be wielded or controlled. It forms spontaneously around people, places, and ideas that have accumulated sufficient mythic weight. One does not cast Yoori — one becomes Yoori's echo.

Key Traits
  • Accumulative — grows over generations, not moments
  • Resists falsehood — manufactured myths fade or backfire
  • Lingers after death — sacred places and revered names hold Yoori long after their originators are gone

  • Shapes narrative — mortals aligned with powerful archetypes may find their lives bent toward mythic outcomes

Manifestations
  • Creation of autonomous spirits or deities in the Arcane Sea
  • Possession or empowerment of mortals aligned with mythic roles
  • Localized alteration of emotion and fate in sacred places
  • Imposition of narrative expectations on individuals (a beloved hero may be drawn toward a noble death)

Formation
  • Repetition of stories across generations
  • Reverence, worship, and cultural fixation
  • Symbols, names, icons, lineages, and relics
  • Sacrifice and acts that fulfill archetypes

Ykheri
Name
Ykheri
Translation
Naturepower
Source

Fir'Gol itself — the slow, monumental pressure of stone, sea, air, and cycle. The oldest magic in the world, predating mortal life.

Nature

Passive and ancient. Ykheri does not respond to will, has no incantation, and cannot be cast. It governs the land, sea, sky, and seasons. Those who attune themselves to it may perceive its patterns — predict weather, sense terrain shifts, recognize magical interference in natural cycles — but they do not direct it. Ykheri allows, or it does not.

Key Traits
  • Passive — it does not act; it is
  • Indifferent — Ykheri has no awareness of mortal concerns
  • Cumulative in response — magical interference that disrupts Ykheri builds toward ecological consequences over time

  • Ancient — older than any living system of magic
Domain
  • Mountains, hills, plains
  • Rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans
  • Air currents, rain, stormfronts, lightning
  • Seasons, decay, erosion, tectonic activity
Not Included
  • Living creatures, monsters, or beasts
  • Individual plants (though forests and ecosystems reflect its rhythm)
Response To Abuse

Repeated magical interference — through sustained Kori manifestations or aggressive Tazri ritual — causes cumulative Ykheri imbalance: magical flooding, rockslides, droughts, and the land's gradual resistance to habitation.

Interaction
Summary

Yoori and Ykheri operate in entirely separate domains — one shaped by mortal story, the other by geological and climatic forces — and do not directly interact with each other. Both, however, interact with Inhimog magic in important ways.

Yoori And Inhimog

Yoori can magnify how Kori expresses in individuals of mythic significance. High ritual Tazri may draw Yoori influence into arcane channels, amplifying or distorting spell effects in ways the caster did not intend.

Ykheri And Inhimog

Powerful Kori manifestations and high Tazri ritual can temporarily disrupt local Ykheri. These disruptions are brief in isolation, but accumulate with repetition into lasting environmental damage.

Key Distinction

Neither Yoori nor Ykheri can be weaponized or commanded. Their influence on Inhimog is always ambient — a pressure, a weight, a consequence — never a tool.

Shared Traits
  • Both are passive — they do not require a practitioner to exist or function.
  • Both are older than any mortal tradition of magic.
  • Both influence living beings without being controllable by them.
  • Both respond to mortal actions, but in their own time and on their own terms.
  • Neither has stages of mastery — they are forces, not disciplines.
