Overview
The sword of Tafarnon, god of evasion, DINISÍ is not a weapon in the traditional sense—it is the physical expression of refusal. Forged from unfinished thought and drawn from unrealized forges, it is a blade that cuts not with steel, but with absence. Entire sections of the weapon are invisible or lost in shifting light, and when swung, it moves not through space but through withheld presence.
DINISÍ does not wound the body—it removes. Striking with it unravels memory, intention, or awareness, leaving behind moments where something was, but no longer is. Victims do not bleed; they are simply not there anymore in ways that cannot be fully explained.
It is a sword born from incompletion, perfected in what it does not do. Even among the Surikgeii, DINISÍ is an anomaly—an implement designed not to destroy the world, but to slip free from its grip.
Just like Tafarnon.
Manufacturing Process
DINISÍ was never fully made. It was begun, then walked away from. Tafarnon “created” it by selecting from unrealized forges scattered across the folds of Yoos’Okaaz—abandoning each partway through, pulling unfinished fragments into his pocket of shadow. The blade exists because he did not finish it.
It was only stabilized once Tafarnon removed the final truth from its existence: its purpose.
Now, it is wielded as the quietest contradiction—a blade that cannot be tracked, anticipated, or, in most cases, seen clearly.
Raw Materials
[ul]
- Blade: Forged from Unpresence—a conceptual alloy drawn from erased possibilities and escaped certainties
- Edge: Formed from siphoned vanishment energy; not sharpened but evacuated—cutting by removing presence rather than parting material
- Hilt: Blackened limbwood wrapped in memory-hide, inscribed with fraying sigils written backward in a language Tafarnon never taught
- Guard: A crescent of dreamsteel bent at an angle that doesn’t reflect in mirrors
[/ul]
Significance
As one of the Surikgeii, DINISÍ is the Instrument of Withdrawal. It is not meant to kill or to dominate, but to evade definition. Where Methraug judges, Thawiaur mocks, Hiniel remembers, and Amlugon laments, Tafarnon simply steps away—and DINISÍ is the act of stepping away given form.
It exists at the edge of presence, the shape of refusal made weapon. Those who seek to understand it find themselves forgetting why.
DINISÍ reflects Tafarnon’s nature perfectly: unfixed, unanchored, unfinished—yet utterly undeniable.
Mechanics
[ul]
- Untraceable Arc: The sword bypasses predictive motion. Those who anticipate its swing often dodge into it. It travels not through space, but through absence.
- Cut of Dissolution: DINISÍ does not slice or break—it undoes. Whatever it touches vanishes partially, inconsistently: memory, mass, voice, function.
- Temporal Shear: Occasionally, the sword’s passage erases a moment. Conversations resume out of order, wounds open before the swing finishes, names are forgotten mid-sentence.
- Refusal Pulse: If Tafarnon concentrates, the sword radiates negation. Spells fizzle, intentions unravel, even attention drifts away. The area around him becomes narratively slippery.
- Shadowbind: When planted into a surface, DINISÍ anchors Tafarnon’s aura of elusion to that space—rendering it a blind spot in all perception, physical or magical.
