Braindump
Short story / short-chapter book about Nenekyn Riiulgruth, Siren-Dreamer of the Ninth Moon. Canon core: - Zaetaedhel (Sea Elf) Tide-Seer from the Drifting Reefs of Uruvaril. - Born 15 Etzil 480 ASS (10012 MV). - In 512 ASS (10118 MV) she becomes the first known mortal since the Firraaii ascended to set foot on the haunted continent of Lotkrosis. - Survives nine days on the jagged coast, returns, and composes the Nine Dream-Poems of Hollow Tides. - Later catalyzes the Hollowing Song (742 ASS). - Fate unknown; becomes cultic ancestor of the Riiulgruth dreamline (descendant Finaanaa Riiulgruth). - Nostiriel-aligned; driven by revelation and witness. Tone: ethereal, beautiful sorrow, visionary, restrained mystery. Metaphoric speech. No pulp adventure, no deep-inland exploration, no invented major companions or definitive death.
Genre
Ethereal historical fantasy / short literary fantasy. Tone keywords: beautiful sorrow (Nostiriel), dream-sorcery, tidal memory, isolation of the visionary, restrained mystery. POV preference: close third-person limited on Nenekyn, or a poetic distance that can pull slightly wider for landscape and dream. Length target: short story (4–8k words) or 5–9 short chapters.
Synopsis
Under a rare ninth-moon alignment, Nenekyn Riiulgruth — a Zaetaedhel Dream-Vigilant of the Tide-Seers — receives a vision of a drowned continent that still breathes beneath the forgetting. Against the caution of her elders she sails alone south to Lotkrosis, the first known mortal to land there since the Firraaii ascended. She survives nine days on the jagged, wrong-lit coast. Each day yields a revelation that will become one of the Nine Dream-Poems of Hollow Tides: a coast that does not echo, places where memory itself feels hollowed, fleeting contact with residual divinity, the land slowly scribing tattoos onto her skin, and the growing sense that the continent is seeing her as much as she is seeing it. On the ninth night she returns. Changed — new sea-scribed tattoos, a permanent distance in her speech — she does not give a conventional account. On moonbone tablets she writes the fragmentary, tidal poems. They spread among Zaetaedhel dreamers and Nostiriel-aligned circles, seeding later cults and the Hollowing Song. The story ends with Nenekyn on a reef under moonlight, tablets finished, purple eyes turned toward a horizon that no longer answers. Her final fate remains unknown, consistent with canon.
Worldbuilding
**Home:** Drifting Reefs of Uruvaril — Zaetaedhel Tide-Seer culture, Dream-Vigilant traditions, matrilineal dreamlines. **Journey:** Southern seas toward the haunted continent of Lotkrosis. **Lotkrosis (512 ASS):** - Haunted continent still overlaid by residual Arcane Sea / Ykheri anomalies and Firraaii echoes. - Jagged coastal fringe only — Nenekyn never penetrates deep inland (canon constraint). - Wrong light, hollow memory, a sense that the land itself dreams and can see the visitor. - Tone of place: beautiful sorrow, not pulp horror. **Key objects:** - Moonbone tablets on which the Nine Dream-Poems are written - Drift-coral and shell-pendants in her hair - Sea-scribed tattoos that appear during the nine days **Deity / philosophical frame:** Nostiriel (god of beautiful sorrow). Truth as returning tide. Memory sacred against the Great Forgetting. **Later historical echo (optional epilogue):** 742 ASS — The Hollowing Song. Sailors following her visions anchor in a hidden cove; one survivor returns speaking in verse.
