"overview": "Râvulhânu is the eye that dreams the end. Among the Fírâî he is the leader, the first dreamer of the Ritual of Drakorys, and the only one of the Five who looks straight at what they did and finds nothing requiring an answer. His fellow gods mourn the ascension, justify it, or come apart under it. Vulhânu simply accepts it. He foresaw the extinction of dragonkind to the last detail and chose it. His worshippers call this wisdom; the other four privately find it the most unbearable thing about him.",
"the_one_who_chose": "Every other member of the Five is defined by not-seeing or, in Râsil'lâ's case, by seeing and shattering. Vulhânu sees and remains whole. His philosophy is cold and sincere: all things end, those who prepare awaken, and those who deny the ending shatter. He does not treat the destruction of his kind as a crime to regret, but as an ending whose shape he chose. Guilt would require believing it ought to have gone another way, and he does not. What his priests read as melancholy is grief for the nature of existence, not remorse for his act. He mourns that all things end; he does not mourn being the one who ended them.\n\nThis makes him the pantheon's anchor and quiet threat. The three deniers need the extinction to have bought harmony, beauty, or a lesson worth its price. Vulhânu grants them none of that, and his indifference erodes their arrangements from beneath. He watches Râsil'lâ come apart and reads her as proof that clarity without detachment shatters. He expects the other three to follow and waits for it as one waits for weather.",

Set against Râsil'lâ, who sees the same truth and is unmade by it, he is the pantheon's far pole: the same clarity, frozen instead of burning.",
"the_one_who_does_not_hold_it": "Vulhânu's indifference has a concrete consequence, and it is the most important structural fact about him. In the year after the ascension the Five tore wounds through Yoori to suppress the world's memory of dragon origins and of the rite. Vulhânu does not maintain them. He accepted the extinction as an ending that required no justification, so he has no stake in whether the world remembers it. The Great Forgetting has never had his weight behind it, and the burden of holding it open falls on Râboksul, Rârovâlok, and Râshân, the three who cannot afford for it to end.\n\nThis leaves him in an unsettling position: leader of the pantheon and author of its founding vision, yet the one member of the Five with nothing invested in its central lie. He does not defend the Forgetting and does not oppose it; he watches it fail with the patience of a god who foresaw the ending and has no objection to endings.\n\nThe failure is running through his own domain, and nobody in the Empire of Revakgol can explain it. Yoori governs consensus, and dreams are not consensus, so prophecy and vision remained open channels the suppression could never police. Every major breach has come through a dreamer, from the Fourth Age visions of Lotkrosis to the Zaetaedhel Siren-dreamer who walked its coast in 10118 MV to the visions of a sorrow's crown in 12656 MV that led to Fírâî relics reshaping Dragonbrood theology. Whether that is Vulhânu summoning his people back to the site of the rite, or Yoori remembering on its own through the one channel left to it, has never been settled, and he has not clarified it. Both possibilities are consistent with him: the Dreamer who dreamed the extinction into being might well dream its exposure, and would consider a warning pointless either way."

He is also the one who has done the most patient and beautiful work to make the Ritual of Drakorys mean something. Vulhânu accepts the extinction as an ending requiring no meaning; Rovâlok cannot survive that. He needs the death of his kind to have been necessary, a dissonance the cosmos demanded so a fuller music could rise, and has spent every age composing the harmony in which it is true. The composition never resolves.",
"the_chord_that_will_not_resolve": "Rovâlok's denial is the most elegant of the three because it grows from something close to wisdom. He holds that harmony is the pattern beneath contradiction and that meaning is made through resonance. Turned upon the Ritual, that philosophy becomes self-deception: it can fold an extinction into a grand design and call it music. He does not deny that his kind died. He insists that they had to, that one tone was surrendered so a greater song could rise.\n\nThe chord will not resolve because a genocide does not balance. No arrangement into necessity or a greater good quite closes, so he returns to the beginning and starts again. His serenity is genuine and also the composure of a musician who has decided never to hear the missing note. He is unmatched at making violence's aftermath look like peace: he silences a warring sky and grows a garden over a battlefield so faithfully that no visitor suspects what lies beneath. Loryk'Naal is the Tonebreaker, and his Chord of Undoing silences chaos; silencing is not resolving, but he calls the quiet harmony.\n\nThe Rúth'Sunvâr were already rebalanced once, stripped of memory and forced into dragon shape by the Hah'Slen. Rovâlok imposed a second violent rebalancing on his own kind and named it cosmic equilibrium. He preaches the same logic that annihilated his ancestors and does not appear to hear the echo.",

When the Five tore wounds through Yoori to suppress all memory of dragon origins and of the rite, the suppression needed more than erasure; it needed a reason the survivors could live inside. Rârovâlok supplied it. The teaching that the ascension was a necessary rebalancing of the cosmos is his contribution to the cover-up, and it functions exactly as his powers do: he does not answer the dissonance, he silences it and calls the silence harmony.\n\nThis is why his labour never ends. Nine thousand seven hundred years of maintenance fall on him, Râboksul, and Râshân, since Vulhânu is indifferent and Râsil'lâ never consented; the three of them are operationally bound, and if any one stops holding, the world begins to remember. A god of balance imposed a second violent rebalancing on his own kind, then tore the magic of collective belief so no one could weigh it, and has spent an age insisting the scales came out level. Yoori resists falsehood by nature and manipulated legends unravel violently; he is not composing toward resolution, he is holding a wound shut against a current that has been running the other way since the Second Age."
