The knowledge of what the Five destroyed lives in her without shape or rest and leaves her the only way it can: as weather. She is the conscience the pantheon buried, coming apart at the seams since the mountain went red.",
"the_breaking": "Where Vulhânu is ice, Râsil'lâ is the storm that will not settle. She feels the full weight of what they did, and a mind was never built to hold that weight whole, so hers is failing by degrees across the ages. Her creed betrays the wound: only in breaking forms do truths emerge, and she unmakes whatever dares remain still. Stillness is what she cannot allow because it is where the truth catches her. She breaks every form before it can settle into silence and calls the compulsion philosophy. Her endless violence is grief without a vessel. The storm is not her weapon; it is her mind spilling.\n\nShe is dangerous to the other Five because the three deniers survive on a shared quiet, an agreement never to feel what they all know. Râsil'lâ breaks that quiet in thunder and in the raving of those she touches, repeating the unsayable because she cannot stop. Vulhânu reads her collapse as proof that clarity without detachment shatters. He is not wrong, but he mistakes her breaking for weakness when it is the cost of being honest enough to feel.",

Between them stand the three who will not look: Râboksul files grief away as doctrine, Rârovâlok names it harmony, and Râshân paints it until it stops looking like a wound. Her worship draws the storm-prophets and divinely mad known as the Saasytdoono (SÂSYTDɔNO, \"storm-voices\"). Their ravings, dismissed by the Empire, are often simply the truth spoken by the one god who never agreed to stop feeling it.",
"the_madness_that_was_arranged": "There is a second cause of Râsil'lâ's unravelling, and it is not grief. Yoori, the magic of collective belief, imposes narrative expectation on those caught within it; those bound in it may lose agency and slowly become what others believe them to be. It is the recorded nature of the magic, not a superstition about it.\n\nFor nine thousand seven hundred years, every people that worships the Fírâî has been taught that the god who keeps speaking of the ascension is mad. The Great Forgetting required her dismissal, since she is the only one of the Five who neither erases the truth nor justifies it, and her worship has been leaking it since the wounds were first torn. So the Empire of Revakgol classed her clarity as raving, her devotees as the divinely mad, and her warnings as weather.\n\nBelief at that scale does not sit inert in a magic made of belief. Among the Saasytdoono there is an argument, and it is the darkest reading available of the Fírâî: that Râsil'lâ's breaking was never only the cost of seeing clearly, and that an age of being believed insane by every worshipping people has been making her into the madwoman the cover-up needed. If that is right, the pantheon did not merely bury its crime; it manufactured the discrediting of its own conscience. She does not maintain the wounds. She never agreed to them. Whether she is capable of saying so plainly any longer is a question her own priesthood no longer asks."

He is also the one who has done the most patient and beautiful work to make the Ritual of Drakorys mean something. Vulhânu accepts the extinction as an ending requiring no meaning; Rovâlok cannot survive that. He needs the death of his kind to have been necessary, a dissonance the cosmos demanded so a fuller music could rise, and has spent every age composing the harmony in which it is true. The composition never resolves.",
"the_chord_that_will_not_resolve": "Rovâlok's denial is the most elegant of the three because it grows from something close to wisdom. He holds that harmony is the pattern beneath contradiction and that meaning is made through resonance. Turned upon the Ritual, that philosophy becomes self-deception: it can fold an extinction into a grand design and call it music. He does not deny that his kind died. He insists that they had to, that one tone was surrendered so a greater song could rise.\n\nThe chord will not resolve because a genocide does not balance. No arrangement into necessity or a greater good quite closes, so he returns to the beginning and starts again. His serenity is genuine and also the composure of a musician who has decided never to hear the missing note. He is unmatched at making violence's aftermath look like peace: he silences a warring sky and grows a garden over a battlefield so faithfully that no visitor suspects what lies beneath. Loryk'Naal is the Tonebreaker, and his Chord of Undoing silences chaos; silencing is not resolving, but he calls the quiet harmony.\n\nThe Rúth'Sunvâr were already rebalanced once, stripped of memory and forced into dragon shape by the Hah'Slen. Rovâlok imposed a second violent rebalancing on his own kind and named it cosmic equilibrium. He preaches the same logic that annihilated his ancestors and does not appear to hear the echo.",

When the Five tore wounds through Yoori to suppress all memory of dragon origins and of the rite, the suppression needed more than erasure; it needed a reason the survivors could live inside. Rârovâlok supplied it. The teaching that the ascension was a necessary rebalancing of the cosmos is his contribution to the cover-up, and it functions exactly as his powers do: he does not answer the dissonance, he silences it and calls the silence harmony.\n\nThis is why his labour never ends. Nine thousand seven hundred years of maintenance fall on him, Râboksul, and Râshân, since Vulhânu is indifferent and Râsil'lâ never consented; the three of them are operationally bound, and if any one stops holding, the world begins to remember. A god of balance imposed a second violent rebalancing on his own kind, then tore the magic of collective belief so no one could weigh it, and has spent an age insisting the scales came out level. Yoori resists falsehood by nature and manipulated legends unravel violently; he is not composing toward resolution, he is holding a wound shut against a current that has been running the other way since the Second Age."
