The Kingdom of Shathel — the holdfasts that kept their kings

Directly answers an open question raised in the earlier Namuzdus Dominion package. Grounded on species.firgol.sentient.julhel.kaetijul (canon_json), whose distribution field names "Shathel — compact dwarven kingdom on the Hjemland–Silgolt margin" and lists Shathel among related_organizations; on history.events.the_long_crossing, the_awakening_of_namuzdus, the_naming_of_namuzdus, the_gathering_at_three_spires (canon_json) for the migration and the Triple Spire pact; and on countries_and_continents.continents.silgolt.nations.revakgol.empire_of_revakgol (canon_json). Spatial grounding from map/spatial: Shathel provinces Domadagas, Khiz, Vederanat; river Jomh; adjacency to Revakgol, Sarotjuní, Yɔnírläht, Avírsegbɔ, Lekdɔzúhma, Tovo.

Ask

The canon Kaetijul species entry names Shathel twice — once in its distribution as a "compact dwarven kingdom on the Hjemland–Silgolt margin," once among its related organizations — and Shathel has no entity. I flagged this as an open question in the Namuzdus Dominion package. This package answers it.

The thesis

The answer that makes the most of existing canon: Shathel is the part of the Long Crossing that went the wrong way and was never able to come back.

Canon has the dwarves migrating en masse across oceanic land-bridges and enchanted vessels, following arcane beacons, to reach the Namuzdus range in western Silgolt. A migration on that scale does not arrive in one place. Shathel is the southern landfall — the column that made ground on the far side of what would become Revakgol's territory, could not cross to rejoin the main body, and built its own kingdom where it stood.

The consequence is the interesting part. Namuzdus abolished hereditary rule and constituted the elected Stonecrown Council at the Triple Spire; Shathel, separated before that pact and never party to it, kept its kings. The two dwarven states are therefore not merely distant but constitutionally incompatible, and each regards the other as the branch that got it wrong. That gives Namuzdus's elected council a foil, explains why Shathel is kin but not part of the pact, and creates a real diplomatic problem: the Empire of Revakgol sits physically between the two.

Items

  1. country entity — The Kingdom of Shathel. The Unbroken Line, the Hall of Precedence, the isolation imposed by imperial geography, and a hereditary dwarven monarchy that considers the Stonecrown Council an abdication.

Open questions for the human reviewer

  • Direct contradiction to resolve. The Kaetijul entry places Shathel on the "Hjemland–Silgolt margin." The spatial data places it in southern Silgolt, bordering Revakgol, Sarotjuní, Yɔnírläht, Avírsegbɔ, and Lekdɔzúhma. I have followed the spatial placement because it makes the separation-by-empire story work, and because the surrounding polities are all southern. If the Kaetijul text is authoritative, this entity's geography needs rewriting — but then the isolation needs a different cause.
  • Whether Shathel's kings claim authority over all Kaetijul, including Namuzdus, is the sharpest available lever. I've written them as claiming precedence but not sovereignty — a claim to be the senior line, not the ruling one. Escalating that to a full claim would make the two dwarven states genuinely hostile.
  • Shathel's neighbours (Sarotjuní, Yɔnírläht, Avírsegbɔ, Lekdɔzúhma) have no entities. I've kept those relations deliberately thin.
  • Naming — resolved, and it helps this package. An earlier version flagged Kaetijul vs Kaetijulhel as an inconsistency. It is not one: -jul is simply the short form of -julhel. That actually strengthens the argument here — Shathelites and Namuzduri are both plainly Kaetijul(hel), one people under two constitutions, which is precisely the tragedy the entity is built on. Separately, the investigation surfaced a real gap: Yukejulhel has no species entity at all, unlike the other Julhel branches. Worth its own package.
