Ask

The Kaetijul — the deep-adapted human lineage everyone outside Namuzdus calls "Dwarves" — already have a full species entry. Their homeland does not: it only exists as ten-plus scattered Fifth Age history events (founding, migration, wars, a schism, a live prophecy) and raw map/spatial data. Every other major power on the map (Thalon, Revakgol, Kormistahl, Izheim) has a proper country/organization entity to anchor it. Namuzdus does not.

This package writes that anchor, using only what the existing history events already establish — no new facts invented, just assembled and given a home.

Items

  1. country entity — Namuzdus Dominion. The nation itself: three founding holdfasts (Kurnumgrath, Dôlmuzûn, Varkgrum) that unified at the Triple Spire in Fifth Age 721 as the Kingdom of Namuzdus, later known as the Namuzdus Dominion (the name used in the current spatial brief). Covers government, culture, foreign relations (Izheim alliance via the Echoforge Compact, Revakgol rivalry via the Deepmetal Wars), and the live tension of the Echoed Crown Prophecy pulling the nation toward isolationism.
  2. organization entity — The Stonecrown Council. The rotating governing body named across three separate history events (Gathering at Three Spires, Stonecrown Schism, Deepmetal Accord) but never itself written up: composition, how it fractured in the Schism, how it resolved.

Open questions for the human reviewer

  • Kaetijul's canon record lists Shathel as a separate "compact dwarven kingdom on the Hjemland–Silgolt margin." I've left Shathel alone and only noted it as a neighbor/possible offshoot in Namuzdus Dominion's foreign relations — is Shathel a splinter state, an older holdfast that never joined the Triple Spire pact, or something else? Worth its own pass.
  • The three founding holdfasts (Kurnumgrath, Dôlmuzûn, Varkgrum) have no settlement entities yet. I named them as the Council's three seats but didn't flesh them out as places — natural follow-up package.
  • The Echoed Crown Prophecy is left deliberately unresolved (as canon has it) — a live hook for future writers rather than something this package should close off.
  • I used "Namuzdus Dominion" as the current/modern name (matches the spatial brief) with "Kingdom of Namuzdus" as a historical alias from its founding era — happy to reverse that framing if the intent was the opposite.

Namuzdus Dominion

Namuzdus — "Echoed Crown"

countries_and_continents.continents.silgolt.nations.namuzdus.namuzdus_dominion country nation

The mountain nation of the Kaetijul — the deep-adapted human lineage outsiders call "Dwarves" — carved into the western Silgolt range they named Namuzdus in the Fifth Age. Founded as the Kingdom of Namuzdus when three holdfasts unified at the Triple Spire, it is governed by the elected, rotating Stonecrown Council and built on Deepmetal, the Kori-responsive alloy that makes it indispensable to every neighbor and a target for the strongest of them.

Structure

Governed by the Stonecrown Council (see organizations.stonecrown_council), a rotating body of master-crafters and geomantic seers originally drawn from the three founding holdfasts of Kurnumgrath, Dôlmuzûn, and Varkgrum. There is no single monarch; council seats are earned through craft-mastery and geomantic aptitude, not blood, and rotate on a schedule set by the Council itself.

Culture

Kaetijul culture is built on geological time: patience, permanent craft, and the conviction that a thing worth making is worth making to outlast its maker. Runesmiths hold a respected, semi-spiritual station — it was runesmiths who first declared the mountain range 'hums with waiting purpose' at its naming. Despite the common exonym 'Dwarves,' the Kaetijul consider themselves human, the same as their surface kin (Medesjul, Jaajul); the distinction is one of adaptation and geography, not lineage.

Public Agenda

Officially: defend the mountain, control the flow of Deepmetal, and honor the Echoforge Compact with Izheim. Beneath that, the Dominion is currently split by the unresolved Echoed Crown Prophecy — 'the Echoed Crown awakens when blood meets stone' — which has fed a growing isolationist faction arguing for closing the underways to outsiders entirely, against the internationalist, trade-favoring line that won out after the Stonecrown Schism.

History

Fifth Age 438 (MV 10044) — The Naming of Namuzdus: dwarven clans declare the range 'Namuzdus' and begin carving holdfasts. Fifth Age 721 (MV 10327) — The Gathering at Three Spires: the holdfasts of Kurnumgrath, Dôlmuzûn, and Varkgrum unify under the Triple Spire pact, the first formal recognition of the Kingdom of Namuzdus under the elected Stonecrown Council. A lone Kaetijul explorer's return to Hjemland (The Awakening of Namuzdus) had earlier seeded word of the range's mineral wealth, drawing the mass migration remembered as The Long Crossing. The Deepmetal Accord unveils the Kori-responsive alloy veins that will define the nation's economy and enemies. The Echoforge Compact formalizes the dwarven-gnome alliance with Izheim: shared tunnels, mutual defense, safe passage. Revakgol's Western Incursions and the Revakgol-Namuzdus Border War test that alliance at the mountain passes, with Kaekreaedhel refugees aiding the defense; the conflict escalates into the Deepmetal Wars, a full Revakgol invasion for monopoly control, held off by combined dwarven-gnome defense at great cost and ended by treaty with shared mining rights. The Namuzdus-Izheim Innovation Boom follows, combining Deepmetal with gnomish ingenuity into Kori-infused machinery and clockwork guardians. Fifth Age 1550 (MV 11156) — The Stonecrown Schism: the Council fractures over Deepmetal export policy between an isolationist faction and one favoring the gnome alliance; resolves with reformed trade law favoring Izheim. Fifth Age 2050 (MV 11656) — The Echoed Crown Prophecy: a mountain tremor is read by Namuzdus seers as omen, fueling renewed isolationist sentiment and unspecified preparations that continue into the present.

Government System

A council republic without hereditary leadership: the Stonecrown Council is elected/rotated from master-crafters and geomantic seers rather than inherited. Contrasts sharply with the magocratic Triumvirate of Thalon or the martial hierarchy of Revakgol, and shares its non-hereditary character (though not its structure) with the Republic of Izheim next door. It also stands in deliberate contrast to the Kingdom of Shathel, the southern Kaetijul realm that kept its hereditary kings.

Geography

Carved into the peaks and underways of the Namuzdus range in western Silgolt, on the border with the Empire of Revakgol. Life is conducted largely in holdfasts cut into the mountain rather than on open surface settlements. The mountain roads descend westward into the duchies of the western cluster, principally through Tuzraag.

Foreign Relations

Closest ally is the Republic of Izheim (gnomes), formalized through the Echoforge Compact and deepened by the Innovation Boom — a partnership strong enough that the Stonecrown Schism resolved in Izheim's favor. Longstanding adversary is the Empire of Revakgol, which has invaded twice (the Border War, then the Deepmetal Wars) chasing a Deepmetal monopoly; current relations rest on the treaty that ended the Deepmetal Wars, sharing mining rights. Downhill and to the west lie the small states of the western cluster: Tuzraag carries the Dominion's trade and is periodically threatened with replacement by dwarven convoy; Súzyngol smelts and finishes what the mountain will not; Kokit holds the spring-heads; Ohynso and Ygtaani sit along the southern approaches. Kaekreaedhel (Twisted Elves) refugees fleeing Siniath found sanctuary in Namuzdus alongside Izheim and Revakgol's undercity, and fought alongside Namuzdus defenders during the Border War. The Kingdom of Shathel, the southern Kaetijul realm, is kin rather than neighbour: the Empire of Revakgol lies across every practicable road between the two, and there are no formal relations between them.

Economy

Built on Deepmetal — enchanted, Kori-resonant alloy veins unique to the range — exported chiefly to Izheim, where it feeds Kori-infused machinery, clockwork guardians, and geothermal forges. Export policy toward this resource was the exact fault line of the Stonecrown Schism.

Religion

Shares the Kaetijul magical affinities for Kori and Tazri. Runesmiths and geomantic seers hold religious as well as practical authority; the mountain itself is treated as a revered, semi-sentient lodestone rather than the seat of a distinct pantheon.

Demonym

Namuzduri (dwarven clans, in outsider taxonomy); the Kaetijul themselves use no separate demonym, considering themselves simply human.

The Stonecrown Council

organizations.stonecrown_council organization governing body

The elected, rotating council of master-crafters and geomantic seers that has governed the Namuzdus Dominion since the Triple Spire pact of Fifth Age 721. It has no hereditary leadership, once nearly broke apart over trade policy toward Izheim, and now sits at the center of the Dominion's unresolved turn toward isolationism.

Content

Structure

A rotating body, originally seated by representatives of the three founding holdfasts — Kurnumgrath, Dôlmuzûn, and Varkgrum — drawn from two ranks: master-crafters (earned through demonstrated permanence of craft) and geomantic seers (earned through Kori/Tazri aptitude and mountain-reading). Seats rotate on a schedule set by the Council itself rather than passing by inheritance.

Founding

Formed at the Gathering at Three Spires (Fifth Age 721 / MV 10327), when Kurnumgrath, Dôlmuzûn, and Varkgrum unified under the Triple Spire mountain pact — the first formal recognition of what was then called the Kingdom of Namuzdus.

History

Presided over the Deepmetal Accord and the alliance-building Echoforge Compact with Izheim, then over two wars with the Empire of Revakgol (the Border War and the Deepmetal Wars) fought to keep Deepmetal out of Revakgol's hands. In Fifth Age 1550 (MV 11156) the Council itself fractured in the Stonecrown Schism over Deepmetal export policy — an isolationist faction against a faction favoring the Izheim alliance — resolving in reformed trade law that favored the gnome alliance and marked the first dwarven civil unrest since the migration. Since the Echoed Crown Prophecy surfaced in Fifth Age 2050 (MV 11656), the Council has been the site of a renewed and still-unresolved isolationist push.

Public Agenda

Steward the Namuzdus holdfasts, control and allocate Deepmetal, and balance the Echoforge alliance with Izheim against a hardening isolationist minority reading the Echoed Crown Prophecy as a warning to close the underways.

Relation To State

Functions as the government of the Namuzdus Dominion (see countries_and_continents...namuzdus_dominion) rather than as a subordinate body within it — there is no separate crown or executive above the Council.
