| **6027–6299** | **1427–1699 AZN** | **1** | **The Ashen Regency / First Fracture** | Split: Vusokaar regency vs northern counter-court; far garrisons thin | **NEW proposed** |

### Cause → break → scar (three major arcs)

| Arc | Cause | Break | Scar |
|-----|-------|-------|------|
| **1 Ashen Regency** | Founder dies; no equal heir; northern Paathur autonomy + war-blood Dovjun ambition | Dual courts ~decades; abandoned outer posts | Consolidation hardens **Code of Burned Stone**; precedent that north can stand apart |
| **2 Twin Pyres** | Overstretch to Tovo corridor + dual power centers; succession dispute mid-peak | East Pyre (Vusokaar) vs West Pyre (Tovo marches) for decades | **Tovo and western/northern marches peel**; peak never recovered; map’s small Zegtuzsos polities become long-term “lost rind” |
| **3 Aasa Civil Wars** | Hollow legitimacy + Lokraasos birth vs Flame Throne monopoly + unpaid legions | Near-total collapse 9550–9600; capital contested | Empire survives **smaller** under Zurgaasyol; prophetic exception written into memory; purist vs reform fault line lasts into Fifth Age |

## Territory sketch (proposed)

### Permanent heart (survives all crises)
- **Vusokaar** and basalt plateau core
- Eastern Silgolt Saarotsos clan-lands of the original forty
- Integrated but subordinate Zegtuzsos **near-north** provinces that stayed after Great Wyrm War (not the far marches)

### Founder high-water (post–Great Wyrm War, ~5905)
- Full southern + northeastern eastern Silgolt dragonborn span of Kaemisyol’s generation
- Paathur system preserved under empire (not erased)

### Peak high-water (paper maximum, ~7800–8500, before/during Twin Pyres)
Per existing peak stub — **never all of Silgolt**:
- **North:** lands later associated with Yɔnírläht, Lekdɔzúhma
- **West:** corridor to **Tovo** and Súzyngol
- **Special:** Julot / Lingraasos under Nijitehk arrangement

### After Twin Pyres (~8680+) — first durable shrink
Lost or reduced to client/hostile free status (map names as historical labels, not new country articles):
- **Tovo** (western high-water mark — secedes in practice)
- March polities in the rind: Zegkruz, Tuzraag, Siltuz, Aalhotikyn, Ohynso, Hihn, Kokit, Ygtaani, Urlyk, Ikirlyknek, Mize (and similar) — mix of free clutch-leagues, client Furaktuz who stopped answering Vusokaar, and neutral buffer towns

### After Aasa (~9600–9680) — second durable shrink (near-cease then save the core)
- **Saved:** Vusokaar + eastern core + selected loyal provinces
- **Not fully reconquered:** most of the Twin Pyres lost rind; Aasa prioritizes **unity of the spine** over recovering every western watch-post
- **Clients:** a few march lords re-swear under light tribute / military access
- **Hostile free:** Unburned-leaning leagues remain outside; feed later “ritual rebellions” memory

### Present (~13000 MV)
- Empire still “mightiest” **in the eastern core and institutional memory**
- Map fragmentation west/north of Revakgol reads as **scar of empire**, not random jigsaw

## Aasa beat sheet (Arc 3)

| Year (MV) | Age | Beat |
|-----------|-----|------|
| 9545 | 3145 AMD | Born in Imperial Palace: first **Lokraasos** of the imperial line. Court splits between awe (“Kaemisyol come again”) and panic (Code of Burned Stone). |
| 9545–9550 | | Childhood under failing Aalki / contested regents. Prophetic pressure; Rahvulhahnu-framed visions later claimed for her. |
| 9550 | 3150 AMD | Civil wars ignite in **northern and western provinces** (existing stub). Multiple factions form (see event draft). |
| ~9555–9565 | | **Empty / contested throne.** Code purists refuse any non-Saarotsos succession narrative. Unburned leagues and western march lords stop tribute. |
| ~9568–9575 | | **Siege / dual occupation of Vusokaar** (near-cease climax). Archives threatened; “empire of ashes” chronicles. Young Aasa among reformist warband / court remnant. |
| 9575–9599 | | Reformist Dovjun + loyal legions coalesce around Aasa as living symbol. Campaigns reclaim roads to the capital, then break purist and march coalitions **without** full reconquest of old peak. |
| **9600** | **3200 AMD** | Proclaimed **Empress Zurgaasyol, the Cleansing Flame**. Reign begins (existing character). |
| 9600–9605 | end 4th Age | Emergency settlement: ceasefires, client oaths, purist exile/brand, Unburned amnesties selective. Caste **reforms** (bend hierarchy; do not abolish service/order). |
| 9606+ | 5th Age | Stabilization continues into early ASS; Fifth Age named Gain and Loss — empire gained survival, lost illusion of endless expansion. |
| post-9605 | | Death year **unknown** (leave open; if later set, prefer mid–late 9700s). Legacy: savior + authoritarian; Flame Throne exception remembered as prophecy, not open precedent. |

### Faction map (civil wars)

| Faction | Base | Wants | Fate under Aasa |
|---------|------|-------|-----------------|
| Throne loyalists | Vusokaar remnant, some Dovaarein | Continuity of Kairtis line | Merge into her coalition |
| Code purists | Core Saarotsos | Saarotsos-only Flame Throne; reject Lokraasos empress | Broken; leaders exiled, branded, or killed; doctrine bent not erased |
| Northern Unburned / clutch leagues | Far Zegtuzsos provinces | Paathur sovereignty, end supremacy doctrine | Some crushed, some negotiated free/client; dual memory continues |
| Western march lords | Tovo corridor remnants | Independence under imperial titles | Mostly stay out; few re-swear as light clients |
| Reformist Dovjun | Mixed | Survive as one body | **Win** with Aasa |

## Contradiction log (for human sign-off)

| Issue | Existing facts | Recommendation |
|-------|----------------|----------------|
| Great Wyrm War dates | Myth: 1292–1330 AZN; event+military_conflict: **1269–1305 AZN** | Prefer **1269–1305**; leave myth as in-world exaggeration or fix myth later in separate pass |
| Kaemisyol death | `zelguu_kairtis`: 1426 AZN (6027 MV) | Use **6027 MV** as start of Ashen Regency |
| Zelguu / Zelguh | Both spellings | Prefer **Zelguu** near character id; allow legacy “Zelguh” in older war text |
| Dovaarein / Dovahrein | Country uses Dovaarein; war text Dovahrein | Prefer **Dovaarein** in new prose |
| Saarotsos / Sahrotsos | Both | Prefer **Saarotsos** in new prose |
| Flame Throne Saarotsos-only vs Aasa Lokraasos | Both canon | **Do not delete either.** Resolve: prophetic exception + civil-war victory; purists lose the war, not the memory of the Code |
| Map continental % on empire entity | Irudy-heavy share flagged as needing review | Do **not** treat as historical truth; history stays eastern-Silgolt-centered |
| Peak place names Yɔnírläht, Lekdɔzúhma, Súzyngol | Named in peak stub; not all on map country list | Keep as period labels; Tovo is map-confirmed |
