There is a second cause of Râsil'lâ's unravelling, and it is not grief. Yoori, the magic of collective belief, imposes narrative expectation on those caught within it; those bound in it may lose agency and slowly become what others believe them to be. It is the recorded nature of the magic, not a superstition about it.
For nine thousand seven hundred years, every people that worships the Fírâî has been taught that the god who keeps speaking of the ascension is mad. The Great Forgetting required her dismissal, since she is the only one of the Five who neither erases the truth nor justifies it, and her worship has been leaking it since the wounds were first torn. So the Empire of Revakgol classed her clarity as raving, her devotees as the divinely mad, and her warnings as weather.
Belief at that scale does not sit inert in a magic made of belief. Among the Saasytdoono there is an argument, and it is the darkest reading available of the Fírâî: that Râsil'lâ's breaking was never only the cost of seeing clearly, and that an age of being believed insane by every worshipping people has been making her into the madwoman the cover-up needed. If that is right, the pantheon did not merely bury its crime; it manufactured the discrediting of its own conscience. She does not maintain the wounds. She never agreed to them. Whether she is capable of saying so plainly any longer is a question her own priesthood no longer asks.
