Plot Outline: The Ninth Night
1. Opening — The Call of the Ninth Moon
Nenekyn among the Dream-Vigilant of the Tide-Seers in the Drifting Reefs of Uruvaril. A rare ninth-moon alignment brings a dream of a drowned continent that “still breathes beneath the forgetting.” Against elder caution she prepares a solitary voyage. Establish her appearance, voice, and quiet conviction that truth is a returning tide.
2. The Crossing
Lone voyage south. She listens to the sea rather than conquering it. Currents, storms, and the thinning of familiar magic rendered through poetic perception. Approach to Lotkrosis as the first mortal known to do so since the Firraaii left the world.
3. The Nine Days (Core Sequence)
Landing on the jagged coastal fringe, 512 ASS. Each day structured around one dominant image or revelation that will later become a Dream-Poem:
- Coast that does not echo correctly
- Place where memory itself feels hollowed
- Brief non-visual contact with residual divinity / “gods beneath the tide”
- The land beginning to scribe tattoos onto her skin
- Growing sense that she is being seen by the continent
Survival is coastal and precarious, dependent on dream-sorcery and oceanic adaptations. Tone: ethereal, restrained, beautiful sorrow.
4. The Return
On the ninth night she leaves. The sea accepts her. She is changed—new tattoos, permanent distance in her speech, mind still half-listening to something that no longer has a living voice.
5. Aftermath — The Poems
She does not give a conventional account. On the moonbone tablets she composes the Nine Dream-Poems of Hollow Tides—fragmentary, tidal, deliberately incomplete. The poems begin to spread among Zaetaedhel dreamers and Nostiriel-aligned circles.
6. Closing Image
Nenekyn last seen (or last remembered) on a reef under moonlight, tablets finished, purple eyes turned toward a horizon that no longer answers. Fate left open, consistent with canon.
Optional Epilogue Beat
Years later, a brief image of sailors following the echoes, one survivor returning in verse—the seed of the Hollowing Song and the taboo cove.
Chapter suggestion if expanded into a short book:
One chapter per major movement, or one chapter per day of the nine, framed by opening and closing sections.
