Ask

Set up a short story / book entry in the Write section titled The Ninth Night, centered on Nenekyn Riiulgruth (Siren-Dreamer of the Ninth Moon).

This package supplies:
- Story Bible (characters, setting, tone, canon constraints)
- Full plot outline for a short story
- Ready-to-use chapter structure notes

Note to human reviewer: The dedicated Write-section MCP tools (create_writing_document, save_writing_bible, submit_writing_suggestion) appear unavailable in the current agent session. This proposal therefore files the planning material as prose so it can be copied into Studio Write, or used as the basis for a new Story/Book document and its Bible.

Grounding

  • Primary: history.characters.nenekyn_riiulgruth (full entity)
  • Event: history.events.the_first_landing_on_lotkrosis (512 ASS / 10118 MV)
  • Later echo: history.events.the_hollowing_song (742 ASS)
  • Species: species.firgol.sentient.lahkiin.zaetaedhel
  • Deity alignment: pantheons.aedhel.nostiriel

Open questions

  • Exact number of chapters (recommend 1 long short-story or 5–7 short chapters matching the nine days)
  • Whether to include any original poem fragments as “Nine Dream-Poems” excerpts
  • Visual / map needs for Lotkrosis coast
Rejected

Story Bible: The Ninth Night

Working Title: The Ninth Night
Form: Short story (or short-chapter book)
Genre / Tone: Ethereal historical fantasy, beautiful sorrow, visionary / dream-sorcery, restrained mystery. Nostiriel-aligned.
POV: Close third-person limited on Nenekyn, or shifting poetic distance.
Length target: 4,000–8,000 words (or 5–9 short chapters).

Central Character

Nenekyn Riiulgruth
- Honorific: Siren-Dreamer of the Ninth Moon
- Also known as: The Ninth Night, She Who Returned from the Drowned
- Species: Zaetaedhel (Sea Elf)
- Born: 15 Etzil, 480 ASS (10012 MV), Drifting Reefs of Uruvaril
- Appearance: Cool grey-lavender skin that gleams under moonlight; long black curls tinged with reefshine violet, often woven with drift-coral and shell-pendants; large almond-shaped purple eyes like twilight ocean depths; gill-mark ridges on neck/jaw; later sea-scribed tattoos from Lotkrosis.
- Role: Dream-Vigilant of the Tide-Seers; first known mortal to land on Lotkrosis after the Firraaii ascended.
- Motivation: Reveal concealed dreams; witness the unknowable. Truth as returning tide; memory sacred.
- Voice: Metaphoric, rhythmic, distant. Speaks in tide and dream imagery.
- Alignment: Neutral Good (revelation and witness).
- Canon fate: Unknown after the poems; cultic ancestor of the Riiulgruth dreamline (descendant: Finaanaa Riiulgruth).

Key Canon Events (must respect)

  • 512 ASS / 10118 MV — First Landing on Lotkrosis: Nenekyn survives nine days on the jagged coast and returns.
  • She composes the Nine Dream-Poems of Hollow Tides.
  • 742 ASS — The Hollowing Song (sailors follow her echoes; one returns speaking in verse).

Setting

  • Home: Drifting Reefs of Uruvaril (Zaetaedhel Tide-Seer culture).
  • Journey: Southern seas toward Lotkrosis.
  • Lotkrosis: Haunted continent, residual Arcane Sea / Ykheri anomalies, Firraaii echoes. Coastal, jagged, wrong light, hollow memory. She never goes deep inland.
  • Tone of place: Beautiful sorrow, not pulp horror. The land itself seems to dream and to see her.

Themes

  • Memory vs. the Great Forgetting
  • Truth as tide that returns
  • The cost of witnessing what was meant to stay drowned
  • Isolation of the visionary
  • Nostiriel’s beautiful sorrow

Style Constraints

  • Metaphoric speech and internal monologue.
  • Avoid modern slang or conventional adventure tropes.
  • Physical details stay close to the established portrait.
  • No invention of major new companions, definitive death, or deep-inland exploration that contradicts the “coastal nine days” record.
  • Poems (if included) should feel fragmentary, tidal, incomplete.

Supporting Elements (optional, non-canon expansion only if needed)

  • Tide-Seer elders who caution her.
  • The moonbone tablets.
  • The slow appearance of the sea-scribed tattoos.
  • A single returning image of the “ninth night” under a rare moon.

Legacy Hook (epilogue possible)

The poems seed later Lotkrosis cults and the Hollowing Song. Nenekyn becomes an unreachable ancestor figure.

Plot Outline: The Ninth Night

1. Opening — The Call of the Ninth Moon

Nenekyn among the Dream-Vigilant of the Tide-Seers in the Drifting Reefs of Uruvaril. A rare ninth-moon alignment brings a dream of a drowned continent that “still breathes beneath the forgetting.” Against elder caution she prepares a solitary voyage. Establish her appearance, voice, and quiet conviction that truth is a returning tide.

2. The Crossing

Lone voyage south. She listens to the sea rather than conquering it. Currents, storms, and the thinning of familiar magic rendered through poetic perception. Approach to Lotkrosis as the first mortal known to do so since the Firraaii left the world.

3. The Nine Days (Core Sequence)

Landing on the jagged coastal fringe, 512 ASS. Each day structured around one dominant image or revelation that will later become a Dream-Poem:
- Coast that does not echo correctly
- Place where memory itself feels hollowed
- Brief non-visual contact with residual divinity / “gods beneath the tide”
- The land beginning to scribe tattoos onto her skin
- Growing sense that she is being seen by the continent

Survival is coastal and precarious, dependent on dream-sorcery and oceanic adaptations. Tone: ethereal, restrained, beautiful sorrow.

4. The Return

On the ninth night she leaves. The sea accepts her. She is changed—new tattoos, permanent distance in her speech, mind still half-listening to something that no longer has a living voice.

5. Aftermath — The Poems

She does not give a conventional account. On the moonbone tablets she composes the Nine Dream-Poems of Hollow Tides—fragmentary, tidal, deliberately incomplete. The poems begin to spread among Zaetaedhel dreamers and Nostiriel-aligned circles.

6. Closing Image

Nenekyn last seen (or last remembered) on a reef under moonlight, tablets finished, purple eyes turned toward a horizon that no longer answers. Fate left open, consistent with canon.

Optional Epilogue Beat

Years later, a brief image of sailors following the echoes, one survivor returning in verse—the seed of the Hollowing Song and the taboo cove.

Chapter suggestion if expanded into a short book:
One chapter per major movement, or one chapter per day of the nine, framed by opening and closing sections.
