In the beginning, before the firmament was bound and the lands of Nixxia drew their borders, there roamed two elder races: the Hah'Slen and the Rú́th'Sunvaar.

Narrative

In the beginning, before the firmament was bound and the lands of Nixxia drew their borders, there roamed two elder races: the Hah'Slen and the Rú́th'Sunvaar.

The Hah'Slen were beings of pure arcane thought, weaving the first skeins of magic across the unshaped world. Where they passed, reality grew supple; seas wept into valleys yet unborn, stars quickened into life in the empty skies. They were shepherds of possibility, artisans of the unreal made real.

Opposing them were the Rú́th'Sunvaar, devourers of change, sovereigns of hunger. Their nature was not merely to survive but to conquer, to subsume, to make all things serve the endless gnawing of their will. They adapted with terrifying speed, reshaping themselves to meet any obstacle, and in their wake the world buckled and bled.

Thus began The War of One and All—a war not for land, nor crown, but for the right to shape existence itself.

The battleground was a world half-formed, and it yielded to their fury. Mountains rose and fell in days; rivers boiled away into mist; skies split open into terrible color. The Hah'Slen called forth towers of living magic, singing armies into being from light and dream. The Rú́th'Sunvaar answered with horrors bred in the span of a breath, beasts and monstrosities tailored for each fresh abomination their enemies devised.

For centuries the struggle raged. Neither side could claim dominion. The Hah'Slen's creations were wondrous but fragile, shattered by the ruthless hunger of the Rú́th'Sunvaar. The Rú́th'Sunvaar's endless adaptations became their own undoing, for they grew ever more alien, more monstrous, losing even the memory of why they fought.

It was then that the First Sundering came.

Realizing they could not triumph by strength alone, the greatest minds among the Hah'Slen—creators of the Roir'Daiintuz—cast a desperate working. They seized the adapting essence of the Rú́th'Sunvaar, fixing it into static forms. From their writhing, ever-changing bodies were wrought the first true Dragons: beings of vast power, but chained forever to singular shapes. No longer could the Rú́th'Sunvaar freely change; no longer could they consume without end.

But the cost was dire. The Hah'Slen, exhausted and broken by their own making, shattered as well. Their essence, too scattered to retain unity, reformed into new beings—diminished reflections of what they once were, yet still touched by ancient grace and sorrow.

Thus were born the Kaelotaedhel, the High Elves, proud and fair; the Kaemisaedhel, the Dark Elves, secretive and fierce; and the Zaelotaedhel, the Sea Elves, wanderers of the deep. From the lower fragments of the Hah'Slen's broken spirit also rose the Ogim, the Orcs, and the Gogil, the Goblins, carrying rougher, more savage echoes of their forerunners' might.

The War of One and All ended not with victory, but with transformation.

The Rú́th'Sunvaar, now dragons, slumbered in secret hoards and atop storm-wracked peaks, their hunger transmuted into ancient brooding. The Hah'Slen, through their descendants, would forever wander the lands they had once shaped by will alone, bearing in their blood both the memory of wonder and the ache of loss.

Thus did the First Age close, and the firmament harden, and the long twilight of myth give way to the world we know today.

Historical Summary

A titanic conflict between the Hah'Slen, stewards of magic and fluidity, and the Rúth'Sunvaar, embodiments of voracity and adaptability. The war twisted the nature of reality itself, shaping dreamlike battlefields that defied comprehension. Lasting nearly a millennium, it ended with both sides erased from existence — the Rúth'Sunvaar sealed into draconic form, and the Hah'Slen fragmented into the ancestors of Elves, Orcs, and Goblins.
